US Citizenship

It has always been the dream of people worldwide to live and work in the United States of America. If there ever was a promised land, a land of opportunity, it has been the US. Many people have migrated to the US over the years to seek and gain US citizenship. And till date, the green card happens to be the most desired stamp of approval in the world.

You could say that this has always been a historical fact. In fact, if we go down the annals of history, we will note that the United States itself was formed when a group of pilgrims sailed across the Atlantic to go to a new found land where they could establish a new way of life. The first people who thus secured what has come to be known as the US citizenship came to our shores in the Mayflower. And ever since, people from various countries and regions have been flocking here. US citizenship has always held great promise of people fleeing their home countries due to prosecution or strife. Which is why, you will find that scores of Jewish people, people from war-torn areas, people from Africa and even the Middle East have all come to the US and gained US citizenship. Additionally, there are always the Chinese, the Indians and the other skilled migrants who have a long history of association with the US and scores of migrants from these populous countries actively seek out US citizenship in order to re-unite with their family or even to create a better life for themselves and their loved ones.

Take present day New York for instance. It is estimated that nearly three out of every four individuals there comprise foreigners who have migrated to the US and secured a US citizenship. This is the bustling metropolis that determines the superiority of the American economy! And thousands more reach New York each day hoping to get hold of US citizenship. Why go that far? Even the US government operates a scheme where Green cards signifying US citizenship are given away to 50,000 people each year who participate in a pool! A Lebanese taxi driver I had the opportunity to meet in New York was one such winner -- who participated in a pool that gave him automatic US citizenship! Not all countries are eligible to participate though. The aims and objectives of this programme conducted by the USAIS is to ensure that sufficient migrants from unrepresented countries live and work in the US, thereby ensuring the diversity that the country has always been proud of.

The US is a country that offers dual citizenship. This is why people from all over the world apply for a US citizenship, as it enables them to retain their ties with their home countries while enjoying the standard of living and the opportunities that a US citizenship offers. And a US citizenship is also a matter of prestige, an honor that indicates that one has finally attained the maximum that is possible in this life. All said and done, the US economy is the largest economy in the world. And the opportunities that can be gained by living and working in the US are immeasurable.
